Info for parents

Where has the year gone?? We can't believe there are only SIX DAYS until LiNKUP!

Here is a reminder of the key information you need to know:

LOCATION
We will be staying at Scout Adventures Youlbury. The address is:
Boars Hill
Oxford
OX1 5HD

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE
Your young person must arrive at either Chestnuts Community Centre, N15 at 3 pm or Stockwell Baptist Church, SW8 at 4 pm on Friday 8th August.

We will be leaving Stockwell Baptist Church at 4:30 pm ON THE DOT and should arrive at Youlbury at approximately 6:30 pm.

We will be leaving  Youlbury at 12pm on Thursday 14th August and should be arriving back at Stockwell Baptist Church at approximately 2:00 pm and then at Chestnuts Community Centre by approximately 3:15 pm.

BEDDING
Scouts Adventures do not provide any bedding, so your young person will need to bring their own. They will be sleeping on single bunk-style beds, so a single sheetduvet, pillow and/or a sleeping bag (which some of them prefer!) will be fine.

WHAT TO BRING
There's not much besides the usual clothes that a young person would wear for eight days that they must bring. However, the following would be needed:

  • Bedding (please see above)

  • Suitable shoes for outdoor and all-weather

  • Toiletries

  • Towel

  • Swimming costume/shorts

  • Extra towel for water-based activity

  • Change of shoes (that they are willing to get messy!)

  • Waterproof coat (ideally with a hood)

  • Jacket/warm clothing (it can get chilly in the evening/weather could turn!)

  • Sun cream

VALUABLES
ANY valuable items (i.e. iPads, mobile phones, jewellery etc) and money that are brought to the LiNKUP are at the young person's own risk.

They are responsible for any valuable items as well as their own personal belongings.

PAYMENT
If you have a balance to pay, you can pay it online here.

HEALTH
If your young person is feeling unwell in the days leading up to the LiNKUP and experiencing symptoms such as a chesty cough, sickness or diarrhoea, high fever or flu-like symptoms, please be mindful of other people attending the LiNKUP and decide if they are well enough to come.

If a young person becomes unwell while at the LiNKUP, our medical team will liaise with their parent/carer as to the best course of action.
