Role: LiNKUP Leader

Teaching and Leading

Morning and Evening Sessions

  • Lead and participate in the bible teaching programme

  • Lead and participate in icebreaker games/activities

  • Setting up and packing down of AV, computer, and other equipment

  • Encouraging young people to take part in discussions and other activities

Morning Devotionals and Evening Small Groups

  • Ability, confidence, and knowledge to lead and/or assist a small group of young people in a daily morning Bible study/time of devotions

  • Leading and participating a time of prayer in small and large groups

  • Encouraging the young people to take part in small and large group times of prayer/quiet time

Pastoral Care

  • Wherever possible, eat with young people to encourage positive conversations, and build relationships with them

  • Help to ensure young people are practising good personal hygiene throughout the week (brushing teeth; showering; changing clothes; washing hands before eating etc)

ALL LiNKUP Leaders are expected to attend the mandatory annual LiNKUP Leaders Retreat (date TBC). This gives the team a time of preparation, planning, and team building. It also helps to ensure that we are all up to date with and in agreement on how we implement, manage, and report all matters pertaining to the health and safety, safeguarding and pastoral, mental, and emotional wellbeing of the young people and team members.

HEALTH AND SAFETY AND SAFEGUARDING

Health and Safety

  • Be fully briefed on and adhere to the Risk Assessment for the LiNKUP/Event that is taking place

  • Report any injuries and/or illnesses to the Designated Health and Safety Leader

  • Identify and report all potentially unsafe conditions to the designated Health and Safety Leader

Safeguarding

  • At all times, be fully aware of and compliant with, the London City Mission Safeguarding Policy and procedures

  • Be aware of/paying attention to the needs and concerns of the young people and team members

  • Be prepared to accommodate special concerns such as dietary requirements, bedwetting, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral problems, etc

  • Report any disclosures and/or bring any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Leader

Spiritual Life

  • Sharing your own testimony/faith journey in a large/small group/one-to-one setting

  • Express how you share your faith through actions (forgiveness, servanthood, love, grace, honesty, etc)

  • Attend (unless on break or serving elsewhere) all morning and evening meetings and small group/devotionals with young people

  • Be pursuing your own spiritual growth by praying daily; reading and learning the Scriptures; participating in the life of a local Church

Hospitality

  • Be actively seeking to help create a welcoming, safe, fun, and loving environment for the young people and team

  • Look for ways to make young people, guests, other team members feel welcomed, meet with their basic needs, and be actively anticipating needs that might arise

  • Interact with young people, guests, and team members in a friendly, loving, and accommodating manner
